Spirit Helpers
Wood/Wind over Thunder. Eldest Daughter and Eldest Son, the Matchmaker and the Groundbreaker, are rousing inner energy that expands outer penetration. This is a time of advance and development. Increase your involvements. Pour in more energy. Impose a direction on things. Facilitate communication between people and spread the wealth. Act this way with confidence. Enter the stream of life with a purpose. This is a good time to begin a project or found an enterprise. By diminishing things, you have brought a flourishing new time. Stimulate and encourage people. New energy is penetrating the world, so strip away your old ideas. When Heaven spreads out, Earth gives birth. Together they increase and augment everything. If you reflect this, you can move with the flourishing time.

Accepting the shock of inner enlightenment now lets you acquire a place where you can influence the world you live in. Skin away outmoded cultural forms (49). Do not focus on stripping away your own old thoughts and habits (23).

Sun, Diminishing and Yi, Augmenting offer a paradigm of sacrifice and its results. Augmenting is the blessing: What is above gives to what is below. The root of the term is a recipient for food. It is the meats eaten at the feast, a vessel overflowing with blessing, the sun that appears through the grace of the ancestor after a dark time, gladdening and enriching everything. This is the feast in which all partake and the blessings (fu) showered on us through the Ancestors after they have received and accepted our sacrifice and presented our needs to the High Lord. Yi, augmenting is a synonym of yi, change, as a gift or blessing, a transformation that is effected by a crossing like the transforming lines in the Change. Philosophically, it is what enriches power and virtue (de), rising and opening from the seeds. It is the waxing moon, the celebrant, the new king, the blessing, a connection of Heaven and Earth brought about by ritual, sacrifice and inner work.

Summer (42): Ripen the fruits by stepping up involvements. Clean up mistakes. Don’t fall into negative feelings. 
Fall (20): Harvest the crop through seeking signs of a new time as they manifest. Compare what you have against what you need. The armies are set to begin, so don’t impede them with outmoded thinking.
Winter (8): Find the seed of the new by re-grouping your thoughts and those with whom you feel kinship. Lay out a real plan and integrate it with your current resources. New energy will shift your momentum.
Spring (3): Rouse new growth by distancing yourself from old entanglements. Do it now. This will lead to a breakthrough.

This is a Realizing Figure, a site of intense mediating activity that connects the primary powers to personal life. It is part of a Zone of Radical Transformation where we pass through the Tiger’s Mouth to Open the Heart anew. It is a Gate to the stage of the Symbolic Life that confers higher levels of empowerment in culture and a new ritual status on the fully individualized being.

The Situation: A time when those above make power and resources available to increase the wellbeing of those below.

Caring for Others: Serve rather than dominate. Make your energy and ability available to those in a position below you. Work with the small. Systematically make benefits available those with the least power and increase efforts to support the general wellbeing of your family.

Setting Intentions: Focus on the basics. Make sure those who have sacrificed in times of need are rewarded. Gather together and provide for replenishment of resources. Care for those who have cared for you. Replenish the resevoir of basic resources. Do not hold back.

Communication and Interaction: Positive interaction is essential. Start in small, simple ways Aim for clarity and emphasize benefits for all.

Change from the Inside Out: Deal with areas of greatest need first. Make long term commitments. Deal with immediate family needs before reaching out. Seek support with confidence. New endeavors are very promising. Present new ideas with confidence and clarity. Be generous.
